First time dining here. The 25$ lunch special advertised on the outside easel was all the temptation I needed to enter. Dim, relaxed lighting made it comfy and cozy. I was immediately served water. The young man that took my order explained that the restaurant has been open for over thirty-four years and they are well known for their fresh seafood. He did a fine job explaining the soft drinks to me. I allowed him to finish then ordered something a bit more potent than soda. It was pretty, tasty and refreshing. He allowed me a few sips before returning to take my order. Lunch special please. What a great price for satisfying portions of quality food. My appetizer; chive potsticker (only one) more like a stuffed pancake. Inside were scallions, peppers, mushrooms and a shiitake sauce. It was like nothing I have ever tasted. It was so good that I felt my toes curl up in my sandals. My crab cake was divine and the sauce was perfect. The corn chowder, I took a few bites but really just played with it. My dessert trio was so pretty, key lime pie and chocolate brownie was the best. I'll be back.
Best value in the Downtown area. Had the Catch 35 Mixed Grill (Shrimp, Lobster Tail, Salmon) for only $44. Our waitress was very pleasant and professional so the dining experience was enhanced by this fact. Food quality is top tier but for way less than you would expect to pay in this location. Would recommend. Only reason for no 5 stars is the salmon wasn't really great but still tasty enough
Imagine this: it's a rainy, Sunday evening in Chicago. You're trudging through the windy streets of the city, barely holding on to a cheap umbrella and trying to make it to your dinner reservation. You're cold, wet, and pissed that your overpriced white sneakers are getting sloshed on with brown water every step you take. You walk into Catch 35, get greeted by a kind waiter, and promptly seated at your table. You quickly glance through the menu and your eyes immediately gravitate to the Shrimp Bisque soup. It's July in Chicago -- but who cares: you are cold and wet and gosh darn it you want soup. It arrives. You take a spoonful. Your eyes grow wide. You feel cozy inside, like a warm blanket has been placed over you and all is alright. You smile. All is well :) That is how I felt having the Shrimp Bisque. I very quickly tried to look up recipes because I very much want to try and replicate this at home. The rest of our meal was great of course: Hawaiian poke bowl was tasty and the cilantro rice was well seasoned, the Salmon on the grill was delicious with the dill yogurt like sauce on top, and our drinks were great too... but that shrimp bisque... will stay with me forever Thank you Catch 35 for capturing a delicious, savory, and creamy hug in a cup! Other things of note: 1) my friend has a wheat, nut, and coconut allergy (the wheat one would send her into anaphylactic shock, so not just a dietary preference), and for the first time EVER our waiter walked up to our table already aware of the allergies and 100% prepared to address them. We had to explain nothing!!! I was so impressed that he knew exactly what to recommend and which meals contained none of the 3. We come to the theater district a lot and this alone impressed up so much that Catch 35 is one of our faves! 2) bathroom was very clean and nice. I appreciate well kept and tasteful bathroom decorum.
Came and had dinner at the bar after my hotel staff recommended the establishment. Orders the French 35, based on the bartender's recommendation. It was very good. It took a while to order food, because the bartender was busy. However, the food came out quickly. I ordered the medallions cooked medium well with whipped potato's and a shrimp skewer. The steak cut like butter, although it was cooked well done. The shrimp seemed to be a little overcooked because they were chewy. Everything was flavored very well.
My waiter Phillip was awesome. In Chicago on business and realized I hadn't ate enough seafood. Yelped Catch 35 and the lobster tails came highly recommended. So happy I stopped by for an early dinner. It was delicious. I had two lobster tails with a Caesar salad and a local beer on tap. The place is beautiful with a big grand piano right in the center. I can only imagine how beautiful and relaxing it is when they have their pianist there. The food deserves 5-stars. The lobster was delicious!
Came here solo to grab a bite to eat in the bar. They have a happy hour in bar and on patio from 3-6. Bonus was the live music on a circular stage in the middle of the bar area. Ordered the lobster roll. Asked if I could sub the cheese biscuits for the fries. No charge and they were so good! Tons of lobster in the roll and it was dressed perfectly. Coleslaw was yummy too! Reasonable prices! I'll be back!
We decided to try out their happy hour while waiting for our show at the Goodman Theater. Many years ago, this was one of my favorite places to dine, but they had some issues, and I stopped going. I had some trepidation about going, but I was so happy I did. We were able to grab a seat outside. People watching is one of my favorite things to do. The waiter was so accommodating and attentive. He explained the happy hour menu. I had a cosmo, which was $12 during happy hour. It was very good. I also had the fried fish tacos.. I can't wait to go back and have those again. They came with a side of cilantro lime rice that was very flavorful! I decided to skip dessert, but my sister ordered dessert: she wasn't that impressed. Overall, it was a really good dining experience, and I will go back!
Restaurant week menu was good. The salmon was really good. Small portion size for lunch and the brussel sprouts was awesome! The chowder didn't taste fresh but good. The potsticker presentation and tasted good. Dessert- we liked the key lime pie over the cheesecake. Good service and nice interior decor.
I said I'd be back and so I came back! Date Night was a success. My wife and I prefer the booths in the back versus the open seating in the front. Karen was our server. She was really good! I enjoy the ambiance. They have a variety of options that are suitable for any diet. The only thing that threw me off was the bell pepper medley that they put on pretty much everything. They put it on my sea bass, our crab cakes, and my wife's entree. They love their bell peppers. The lava cake does not come with ice cream, so I suggest adding a scoop of French vanilla ice cream to it.
Wonderful seafood in downtown. ENTREE: The catch 35 mixed grill is a great taste of everything and is plenty to split. The crab stuffed shrimp and braised short rib was great and I would enjoy it again! APPETIZER: the Maryland style crab cake was good but a bit too pricey! DESSERT: sticky toffee pudding cake is A MUST! Cheers!
